My name is Matt Finnigan and I’m a full time professional sports trader making a living from trading the sporting markets on Betfair.

Making Money from my Sporting Passions

In my early thirties I asked the question many people do once their twenty’s are out the way ‘What Do I want to do with the rest of my life? Back at the begining of the 21st Century I had a very good job working for Ladbrokes as PR Executive, being paid to talk about betting on sport may seem like heaven to anybody who loves sport. And it was!

However; I never felt at home working for the ‘Magic Sign’ and by 2002 my love affair with the company had ran its cause. I decided, quite drunk on New Year’s Eve (2001) that I would be a full-time trader by the end of 2002. I left Ladbrokes in August, my plan had worked and left with a very nice pay-off to set me on the road as a professional Betfair Trader.

From Punter to Trader

Despite having the support of my girlfriend (now wife) and good money behind me, in the early years I made all the mistakes that novice traders can make, I have all those T-Shirts.

It took until 2005 to really make that transition from a sports punter to a truely professional Betfair trader, I knew if I kept improving my knowledge and skills I had gained, I would have the biggest commodity in life ‘Owning Time!’

Why Pro Trader Tip?

This site is dedicated to helping othersports traders understand the Betfair markets a little better, I encourage others to share their knowledge and experiences and promote this type of trading.

My goal over the next couple of years is to build a library of useful Betfair trading advice and tips, this journey on this site is just starting and I would like it become a record of developing my trading skills to new levels. Despite being at the cutting edge of exchange trading for a decade, I know my knowledge is just scratching the surface of what can be achieved.

Mentoring  Traders

Since November 2007 I have been mentoring traders of all abilities understand the Betfair markets better, I now mentor almost 80 ‘X-Traders’ as they’re known in my Exchange Club at Pro X Trading.  I have successfully trained a few traders to full-time status and I would say that around 90% of my community are now making consistant long-term profits.
